As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our team at our Akyem, New Abirem operations.

Position Summary

The Excavator Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of excavators and other assigned heavy equipment in support of mining and earthmoving activities. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring operational productivity while adhering to the highest safety, environmental, and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Operation

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently in accordance with company procedures and safety regulations.
• Perform excavation, loading, trenching, earthmoving, and material-handling activities as assigned.
• Ensure equipment is operated in a manner that maximizes productivity and minimizes downtime.
• Follow operational plans and supervisor instructions to achieve daily production targets.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere strictly to all health, safety, environmental, and operational policies.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections and report defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Maintain a safe working environment for colleagues, contractors, and visitors.
• Participate in safety meetings, training programmes, and toolbox talks.

Equipment Care & Maintenance

• Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventive maintenance activities.
• Monitor machine performance and report any mechanical issues immediately.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure machinery remains in good operating condition.
• Complete required equipment logs and operational reports accurately.

Operational Support

• Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other equipment operators to support mining operations.
• Assist with site preparation, material movement, and related operational activities.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and safety.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned within the scope of the role.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

• An HND, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
• Proven experience operating excavators or heavy-duty earthmoving equipment within mining, construction, or related industries.
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe equipment operation and maintenance practices.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
• Ability to read and follow operational instructions and site procedures.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• A valid equipment operating certification or license will be an added advantage.
