Position Purpose
The Advocacy & Campaigns Coordinator will lead the design, coordination, and implementation of national advocacy and campaign initiatives that advance child well-being, social justice, gender equality, and sustainable development outcomes in Ghana. The role will strengthen policy influence, mobilize public engagement, build strategic coalitions, and support World Vision’s advocacy priorities by working closely with internal teams, government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and community stakeholders.

The Coordinator will provide technical leadership to field teams and decentralized staff, ensuring advocacy and campaign efforts are aligned with national priorities and global organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Advocacy Strategy and Policy Engagement
- Develop and implement advocacy strategies that influence policies, legislation, and public systems affecting children and vulnerable communities.
- Produce high-quality policy briefs, position papers, advocacy reports, and evidence-based recommendations.
- Build and maintain productive relationships with government ministries, regulatory agencies, parliamentary bodies, and key policymakers.
- Monitor policy developments and identify opportunities for strategic engagement and influence.
- Represent World Vision in advocacy forums, consultations, and policy dialogues.
Campaign Design and Management
- Lead the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of national advocacy campaigns from inception through completion.
- Develop campaign strategies, messaging frameworks, mobilization plans, and stakeholder engagement approaches.
- Coordinate public awareness initiatives that drive citizen participation and social action.
- Ensure campaign activities contribute to measurable policy and social change outcomes.
- Support alignment between national campaigns and World Vision’s global advocacy priorities.
Coalition Building and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and strengthen coalitions, networks, and partnerships with civil society organizations, community groups, faith-based organizations, development partners, and advocacy platforms.
- Coordinate multi-stakeholder initiatives that advance shared advocacy objectives.
- Facilitate collaboration among internal and external stakeholders to maximize campaign effectiveness.
- Strengthen engagement with regional and international advocacy networks.
Technical Support and Capacity Strengthening
- Provide technical guidance and coaching to field teams and decentralized staff on advocacy and campaign implementation.
- Develop tools, resources, and training materials to strengthen advocacy competencies across the organization.
- Support integration of advocacy approaches within development and humanitarian programming.
- Promote learning, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement in advocacy practices.
Communications and Digital Mobilization
- Develop compelling advocacy and campaign content for diverse audiences.
- Coordinate social media advocacy initiatives, including hashtag campaigns, digital mobilization efforts, online petitions, and public engagement activities.
- Support media engagement and strategic communications efforts that amplify campaign messages.
- Ensure consistent and impactful campaign branding and messaging.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning
- Track campaign and advocacy performance against established objectives and indicators.
- Document outcomes, lessons learned, and best practices.
- Prepare reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Utilize evidence and learning to improve future advocacy initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, International Relations, Advocacy, Communications, or a related field.
- Master’s degree will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 5–7 years’ professional experience in advocacy, campaigns, social mobilization, or policy engagement, preferably within the NGO or international development sector.
- Demonstrated experience providing technical guidance and support to field teams or decentralized staff.
- Proven experience supporting or coordinating advocacy campaigns and external stakeholder engagement initiatives.
- Experience working effectively across multidisciplinary teams and diverse stakeholder groups.
- Experience in coalition building and network development is an added advantage.
- Demonstrated experience designing and managing multi-stakeholder national advocacy campaigns from inception to evaluation, including coalition building, public mobilization, and policy engagement.
- Proven ability to develop policy advocacy materials and engage effectively with government officials, parliamentary bodies, and sector-level policymakers.
- Established networks within Ghana’s civil society, community organizations, and advocacy ecosystem.
- Experience working on global campaigns or within international NGO campaign networks.
- Experience leading or coordinating a recognized global campaign such as ENOUGH, 16 Days of Activism, or an equivalent initiative.
- Experience managing social media campaigns, including hashtag campaigns, digital petitions, and online mobilization activities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies
- Strong understanding of advocacy methodologies, public policy processes, and social mobilization approaches.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills, with the ability to develop campaign messaging, policy briefs, advocacy materials, and mobilization content for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to World Vision’s mission and values.
Desirable Attributes
- Established relationships with Ghanaian government ministries, regulatory bodies, or parliamentary networks relevant to child rights, gender equality, or social development.
- Connections to regional civil society platforms, Africa-wide advocacy networks, or global NGO campaigning communities.
- Proficiency in at least one Ghanaian local language.
- French language proficiency will be an added advantage for regional campaign engagement.
Travel Requirements
The position requires the ability and willingness to travel domestically up to 40% of the time and occasionally undertake international travel as required.
