Electrical Field Engineer (Renewables)

Location: Accra, Ghana

As we continue to expand our operations, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Field Engineer (Renewables) to support the successful delivery of renewable energy projects.

Role Purpose

The Electrical Field Engineer (Renewables) will oversee the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and technical support of renewable energy systems. The successful candidate will ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering standards while providing technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, test, and maintain solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and other renewable energy solutions.
  • Provide on-site technical support for residential, commercial, and industrial renewable energy installations.
  • Conduct electrical inspections, testing, fault diagnosis, and system troubleshooting.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications to support project execution.
  • Support electrical system design, configuration, and integration for renewable energy projects.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure compliance with technical specifications, quality standards, and project timelines.
  • Ensure all installation and maintenance activities comply with electrical safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Prepare site reports, technical documentation, commissioning reports, and maintenance records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, contractors, suppliers, and clients to deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Provide technical recommendations to improve system reliability, efficiency, and performance.
  • Support preventive maintenance programmes and respond to field service requests as required.
  • Stay informed on emerging renewable energy technologies, electrical standards, and industry developments.

Qualifications, Experience & Competencies

Education

  • Higher National Diploma (HND), Bachelor of Technology (BTech), Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Professional certification in renewable energy, solar photovoltaic systems, or power systems will be an added advantage.

Experience

  • Practical experience in electrical field engineering, preferably within renewable energy, power distribution, or energy infrastructure projects.
  • Experience with solar photovoltaic (PV) installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
  • Experience working on-site in field engineering and operational environments.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and power distribution systems.
  • Proven expertise in solar installation for residential, commercial, and industrial applications.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of electrical testing equipment, diagnostic tools, and engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and fault diagnosis skills.
