We are seeking an innovative and dedicated Computer Science Teacher to join our Secondary School team at the Accra Campus.

Position Summary

The Computer Science Teacher will deliver high-quality ICT and Computer Science instruction aligned with the Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level curriculum. The successful candidate will inspire students to explore technology, develop computational thinking, strengthen problem-solving abilities, and build the digital skills required for success in the modern world.

Key Responsibilities

Teaching and Learning

  • Deliver engaging and effective ICT and Computer Science lessons across Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level programmes.
  • Plan, prepare, and teach high-quality lessons that meet Cambridge curriculum standards and learning objectives.
  • Develop students’ computational thinking, programming skills, problem-solving abilities, and digital literacy.
  • Teach key areas including programming, algorithms, data representation, computer systems, networks, and digital technologies.
  • Apply differentiated teaching strategies to support students with diverse learning needs and abilities.
  • Create an inclusive, stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, creativity, and active participation.
  • Integrate educational technology, digital platforms, and modern teaching tools to enhance student learning.

Assessment and Student Progress

  • Design and implement formative and summative assessments aligned with Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level requirements.
  • Assess, mark, and moderate student work accurately and consistently.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on student progress and academic achievement.
  • Provide constructive feedback that supports continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate student records in line with school policies and examination requirements.

Curriculum Development

  • Contribute actively to the planning, review, and continuous improvement of the ICT and Computer Science curriculum.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that align with Cambridge International examination standards.
  • Stay updated on developments in computing, programming languages, artificial intelligence, and educational technology.
  • Create relevant learning resources that support effective teaching and student engagement.

Student Support and Enrichment

  • Support students in achieving academic excellence in ICT and Computer Science.
  • Encourage participation in coding clubs, robotics activities, STEM fairs, technology competitions, and other enrichment programmes.
  • Provide academic guidance, mentoring, and support to help students achieve their learning goals.
  • Encourage students to explore technology creatively and responsibly.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate actively in staff meetings, training programmes, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues, parents, and school leadership.
  • Contribute positively to the school’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Maintain high professional standards and uphold safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Support initiatives that enhance the overall learning experience at ICS.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education with a specialization in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • A Master’s Degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience delivering Cambridge IGCSE and A-Level ICT/Computer Science programmes at the secondary school level.
  • Experience teaching within the Cambridge International curriculum is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of ICT, Computer Science concepts, programming, and digital technologies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or similar languages.
  • Understanding of computer systems, networks, databases, and emerging technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of Cambridge curriculum requirements, assessment strategies, and instructional practices.
  • Excellent classroom management and lesson delivery skills.
  • Ability to teach programming and computational thinking effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to integrate ICT tools and educational technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
