Position Summary

The Kitchen Assistant will support daily kitchen operations by assisting with food preparation, maintaining cleanliness, organizing supplies, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards. The successful candidate will work closely with the kitchen team to provide efficient and high-quality food service.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation by washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring ingredients.
• Follow recipes, preparation methods, and instructions accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hygienic kitchen environment at all times.
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly.
• Assist with receiving, checking, and storing food deliveries properly.
• Monitor food storage areas and ensure proper stock rotation using food safety guidelines.
• Dispose of waste safely and maintain cleanliness in food preparation and storage areas.
• Support cooks and chefs during meal preparation and service.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards.
• Report equipment faults, food shortages, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptly.
• Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
• Perform other kitchen support duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Previous experience in a kitchen, restaurant, catering, or food service environment is preferred.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks.
• Positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
