We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Mechanical/Change Part Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled engineering professional who is passionate about equipment reliability, maintenance excellence, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

The Mechanical/Change Part Engineer will lead the maintenance, optimization, and continuous improvement of packaging line equipment to ensure maximum reliability, efficiency, and operational performance. The successful candidate will oversee maintenance activities, support engineering projects, drive preventive maintenance initiatives, and provide technical leadership while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities

As a Mechanical/Change Part Engineer, you will:

  • Promote a strong safety culture by ensuring full compliance with occupational health, safety, engineering, environmental, and statutory requirements while supporting a zero Lost Time Accident (LTA) workplace.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute equipment overhauls, shutdowns, and maintenance activities safely, on schedule, within specification, and within budget.
  • Manage maintenance materials, spare parts, and engineering components to ensure availability, effective utilization, and accurate inventory control.
  • Supervise maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning activities on packaging line equipment while ensuring quality workmanship and right-first-time execution.
  • Monitor, maintain, and improve the reliability and performance of mechanical systems, drives, and production equipment.
  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop technicians by promoting technical excellence, teamwork, and safe working practices.
  • Implement preventive and predictive maintenance programmes that maximize equipment availability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Support automation initiatives, equipment upgrades, process improvements, modifications, and the installation of new production equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance, maintenance efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare accurate maintenance reports, engineering documentation, and performance analyses to support operational decision-making.
  • Apply engineering best practices to improve packaging line reliability, productivity, and overall manufacturing performance.
  • Utilize Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP, to manage maintenance planning, work orders, equipment history, and reporting effectively.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and engineering teams to achieve operational and business objectives.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in maintenance engineering within a food, beverage, FMCG, or similar manufacturing environment.
  • Membership of a recognized professional engineering body, such as the Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE) or an equivalent organization, will be an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated first-line leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Practical experience implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), preferably SAP.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

The successful candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of industrial maintenance systems, mechanical equipment, and packaging line operations.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and root cause analysis skills.
  • The ability to read, interpret, and apply technical drawings, engineering specifications, and maintenance documentation.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and resource management capabilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and engineering best practices.
  • High levels of accountability, professionalism, and attention to detail.
