We are seeking a visionary and highly experienced Director of Administration to provide strategic administrative leadership, strengthen institutional governance, and enhance operational efficiency across the Hospital.

Job Summary

The Director of Administration will provide executive leadership for the Hospital’s administrative functions by overseeing strategic planning, policy implementation, resource management, corporate reporting, and organizational performance. The successful candidate will work closely with executive management to ensure efficient administrative operations, effective resource utilization, and the successful implementation of the Hospital’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership and Administration

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Hospital’s administrative functions and support organizational excellence.
  • Manage official executive correspondence and prepare comprehensive administrative reports for management and relevant stakeholders.
  • Advise executive leadership on administrative policies, operational improvements, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the preparation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Hospital’s corporate strategic plans and annual operational plans.
  • Promote continuous improvement in administrative systems, policies, and procedures.

Planning, Budgeting, and Resource Management

  • Coordinate the preparation and consolidation of the Hospital’s annual budget in collaboration with relevant departments.
  • Monitor administrative resource utilization and recommend strategies for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Ensure the availability of operational supplies, logistics, and administrative resources to support uninterrupted service delivery.
  • Provide strategic recommendations on resource allocation and utilization.

Corporate Governance and Communication

  • Ensure the effective dissemination of administrative information, policies, and organizational directives to staff and relevant stakeholders.
  • Support institutional governance by promoting accountability, transparency, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Prepare reports and documentation to support executive decision-making and institutional planning.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

  • Promote and enforce compliance with institutional health, safety, and administrative policies.
  • Monitor adherence to organizational guidelines, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen workplace safety and operational risk management.

Leadership and Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop administrative teams to enhance organizational performance.
  • Foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and strengthen institutional capacity through effective leadership.

Educational Qualification & Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • Senior Professional status and currently be on the payroll of the Ministry of Health (MOH) or any of its agencies.
  • A postgraduate qualification in Administration, Public Administration, Health Administration, Business Administration, Management, or a related field. A Master’s Degree or higher qualification will be an added advantage.
  • Registration and good standing with a recognized relevant professional body.
  • A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant professional experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience serving at the level of Principal Officer or above.
  • Demonstrated practical experience in policy planning, monitoring and evaluation, strategic management, and contract administration.
