Position Summary

The school is seeking an experienced, passionate, and visionary Preschool Head to provide strategic and operational leadership for our Preschool Department. The successful candidate will oversee curriculum delivery, lead and mentor teaching staff, promote outstanding early years education, and ensure every child learns in a safe, caring, and engaging environment.

The ideal candidate will combine strong educational leadership with a genuine commitment to child-centred learning, staff development, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Leadership and Department Management

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Preschool Department to ensure the delivery of high-quality early childhood education.
  • Supervise, mentor, and support preschool teachers to promote excellence in teaching and learning.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional culture within the preschool team.
  • Lead departmental planning and contribute to the achievement of the school’s educational goals.

Curriculum and Teaching Excellence

  • Monitor the effective implementation of the preschool curriculum in line with the school’s educational standards.
  • Guide teachers in developing engaging, age-appropriate, and child-centred learning experiences.
  • Promote innovative teaching strategies that support children’s cognitive, social, emotional, language, and physical development.
  • Monitor children’s progress and ensure appropriate interventions are implemented where needed.

Student Development and Wellbeing

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.
  • Promote children’s holistic development through high-quality teaching, care, and positive behaviour support.
  • Ensure appropriate safeguarding practices are consistently implemented throughout the Preschool Department.

Parent and Community Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with parents and guardians through open, timely, and effective communication.
  • Coordinate parent meetings, workshops, and engagement activities that strengthen home-school partnerships.
  • Address parent enquiries and concerns professionally while promoting a positive school experience.

Health, Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure full compliance with health, safety, safeguarding, and child protection policies.
  • Conduct regular reviews of learning environments to maintain high standards of safety and wellbeing.
  • Ensure departmental operations comply with school policies and relevant educational regulations.

Administration and Continuous Improvement

  • Prepare departmental reports, development plans, and other administrative documentation.
  • Monitor departmental performance and recommend improvements to enhance educational outcomes.
  • Support staff professional development through coaching, mentoring, classroom observations, and performance feedback.
  • Contribute to school-wide initiatives that promote educational excellence and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Education, or a related discipline.
  • A recognized professional teaching qualification or teacher licensure.
  • Previous experience in a preschool leadership, supervisory, or coordinator role will be highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching within an early childhood education setting.
