About the Role
As a Physical Education Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging physical education lessons that promote students’ physical fitness, technical skills, teamwork, and overall well-being. You will create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment while encouraging active participation and a lifelong appreciation for health and fitness.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging physical education lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and learning objectives.
- Develop students’ technical skills, physical fitness, coordination, and game awareness through structured learning activities.
- Design age-appropriate training programmes that promote skill development, teamwork, and healthy competition.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where every student is encouraged to participate.
- Assess students’ progress and provide constructive feedback to support their development.
- Maintain a safe learning environment by ensuring that equipment and facilities are used appropriately and safely.
- Organize and supervise sporting activities, competitions, and extracurricular programmes as required.
- Encourage positive sportsmanship, discipline, and respect during all physical education activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support students’ holistic development.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress where appropriate.
- Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development activities, and school events.
Qualifications
Education
- Degree or Diploma in Physical Education, Sports Science, Coaching, or a related field.
Experience
- Proven experience teaching or facilitating Physical Education within a school setting.
- Demonstrated ability to design and deliver training programmes that develop students’ technical skills, physical fitness, and game awareness.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, sports coaching, and student development.
- Excellent classroom and student management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate, inspire, and engage students of varying abilities.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, and inclusive education.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the wider school community.
