The successful candidate will provide legal advisory services, support corporate governance and compliance initiatives, manage legal documentation, and contribute to protecting the Council’s legal and regulatory interests.

Position Summary
Reporting to the Head of the Legal Department, the Legal Officer II will provide legal support across the Council by conducting legal research, advising on legal and regulatory matters, reviewing contracts, supporting compliance initiatives, and representing the Council in legal proceedings where required. The successful candidate will demonstrate sound legal judgment, professionalism, and strong analytical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct legal due diligence and compliance reviews on assigned matters.
- Undertake comprehensive legal research to support organizational decision-making.
- Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate, commercial, employment, regulatory, and administrative matters.
- Ensure the Council’s operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, and government policies.
- Draft, review, negotiate, and vet contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding, and other legal documents.
- Identify legal risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Assist in developing and reviewing organizational policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.
- Represent the Council before courts, tribunals, arbitration panels, and quasi-judicial bodies as required.
- Support litigation management and coordinate with external legal counsel where necessary.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and advise management on their implications.
- Prepare legal opinions, reports, briefs, and correspondence.
- Maintain accurate legal records and documentation.
- Support the implementation of corporate governance and compliance initiatives.
- Perform other legal duties assigned by the Head of the Legal Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Degree from a recognized university.
- Professional Legal Qualification and admission to practice law in Ghana.
- Membership of the Ghana Bar Association.
- Minimum of three (3) years’ relevant post-call legal experience.
- Experience in corporate, commercial, regulatory, employment, or administrative law will be an advantage.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.

- Possess five (5) credits in WASSCE/GCE Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting, or six (6) credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
- Be not more than forty (40) years of age as of the application closing date.
