We are seeking a proactive and technically skilled Network Administrator II to join our Information and Communication Technology Division. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the Council’s IT infrastructure, ensuring network reliability, maintaining system security, and providing technical support that enables efficient business operations.

Position Summary

The Network Administrator II is responsible for administering and maintaining the Council’s network infrastructure, servers, and information systems while ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability. The role requires strong technical expertise, analytical thinking, and the ability to support users and implement technology solutions that enhance organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the Council’s IT infrastructure, including servers, network devices, hardware, and software systems.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, and peripheral devices.
  • Provide timely technical support to end-users by resolving hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Monitor network performance and implement measures to improve system efficiency, reliability, and availability.
  • Configure, maintain, and secure local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), wireless networks, and related infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to safeguard organizational data.
  • Monitor network security and implement appropriate controls to protect systems against cyber threats and unauthorized access.
  • Conduct regular system maintenance, updates, and security patch management.
  • Collaborate with departments to assess technology requirements and implement new IT solutions and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Conduct routine system audits to ensure compliance with security standards, policies, and industry best practices.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend improvements to strengthen the Council’s ICT environment.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, network diagrams, troubleshooting procedures, and user guides.
  • Support ICT projects and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should possess:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ post-graduation experience as an IT Officer, Network Administrator, Systems Administrator, or in a similar technical role.
  • Proven experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure and providing technical support.
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software installation, networking technologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Practical experience in network administration, network security, and security protocols.
  • Working knowledge of cloud computing platforms and cloud-based services.
  • Professional certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Cisco certifications, or equivalent will be an added advantage.

Additional Requirements

Applicants must:

  • Possess five (5) credits in WASSCE/GCE Ordinary Level, including English Language and Mathematics at one sitting, or six (6) credits at not more than two sittings, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • Be not more than forty (40) years of age as of the application closing date.
  • Demonstrate integrity, reliability, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Be self-motivated with strong report-writing skills.
  • Be adaptable, innovative, and capable of implementing technology-driven improvements.
