Job Summary

The Elective Biology Teacher will deliver engaging lessons, support students’ understanding of biological concepts, and prepare learners for academic success. The successful candidate will combine strong subject knowledge with effective teaching methods to create an interactive and inspiring classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver effective Elective Biology lessons in line with the approved curriculum.
• Teach biological concepts, theories, and practical applications using engaging teaching methods.
• Prepare lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and examination exercises.
• Conduct and supervise laboratory practical sessions while ensuring safety procedures are followed.
• Assess students’ academic performance and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
• Support students in developing scientific reasoning, research skills, and problem-solving abilities.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress, attendance, and academic performance.
• Prepare students effectively for internal and external examinations.
• Encourage students’ interest in biological sciences through practical activities and discussions.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school programmes, and extracurricular activities.
• Provide academic guidance and mentorship to students when required.
• Perform any other related duties assigned by school management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum qualification of HND or Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Science Education, or a related field.
• Previous teaching experience at the Senior High School level is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of the Elective Biology curriculum and laboratory practices.
• Ability to prepare effective lesson plans and deliver engaging classroom instruction.
• Good classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Commitment to maintaining high academic and professional standards.
