We are seeking a detail-oriented, dependable, and highly organized Accounts Officer to join our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about accuracy, efficiency, and supporting the financial sustainability of a thriving educational institution.
Job Summary
The Accounts Officer will support the day-to-day financial operations of the Academy by maintaining accurate financial records, processing fees and payments, preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, and assisting with budgeting activities. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the Academy’s financial policies and contribute to efficient financial management while providing excellent service to staff, parents, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounts Officer will:
- Process student fees, payments, receipts, and other financial transactions accurately and promptly.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with established accounting procedures.
- Prepare periodic financial reports and supporting documentation for management.
- Perform bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations to ensure financial accuracy.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of departmental and institutional budgets.
- Maintain accounting records using approved accounting software and financial systems.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing activities.
- Ensure compliance with the Academy’s financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Respond professionally to financial enquiries from staff, parents, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate filing systems for financial documents and records.
- Assist with audits by preparing relevant documentation and supporting information.
- Identify discrepancies and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform other finance and administrative duties assigned by the Finance Manager or School Leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must possess:
- A Diploma, HND, or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years’ relevant accounting experience.
- Previous experience in an educational institution or school environment will be an added advantage.
