Position Summary
The French Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging French lessons, improving students’ language proficiency, assessing learning progress, and creating a positive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong language skills, effective teaching methods, and a commitment to helping students develop confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding French.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging French lessons in line with the Ghana Education Service curriculum and school standards.
- Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, assignments, and assessments to support effective learning.
- Teach French language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary.
- Prepare students for WASSCE and other relevant examinations.
- Assess students’ performance through tests, assignments, oral presentations, and examinations.
- Provide additional academic support to students who require improvement.
- Monitor students’ progress and implement strategies to enhance language learning outcomes.
- Encourage students to develop confidence and interest in the French language and Francophone cultures.
- Create a disciplined, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.
- Use creative teaching methods, digital resources, and practical activities to improve language learning.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ attendance, grades, and academic progress.
- Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and academic planning activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and management to improve teaching and learning standards.
- Support students’ personal development and overall academic growth.
- Perform other duties assigned by school management.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in French Education, French Language, Education, or a related discipline.
- Professional teaching qualification or recognized teaching certification will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 2–3 years’ teaching experience at the Senior High School level.
- Proven experience teaching French and preparing students for WASSCE examinations.
- Strong knowledge of the Ghanaian Senior High School French curriculum.
- Excellent command of written and spoken French.
