Role Overview

As an Auto Electrician, you will diagnose, repair, maintain, and install electrical systems and electronic components in a wide range of vehicles. You will ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications, industry safety standards, and the company’s commitment to quality service.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and diagnose electrical faults in vehicles using diagnostic equipment and manual testing methods.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, technical manuals, and diagnostic fault codes to identify and resolve electrical issues.
• Repair or replace faulty electrical components, including alternators, starters, sensors, wiring harnesses, relays, fuses, lighting systems, and electronic control modules.
• Perform routine maintenance on vehicle electrical systems, including battery testing, charging system inspections, and terminal servicing.
• Install automotive electrical accessories such as audio systems, alarms, navigation units, auxiliary lighting, and other electronic equipment.
• Ensure all electrical repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and established safety standards.
• Use appropriate tools and personal protective equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
• Explain diagnostic findings, repair recommendations, and service options clearly to customers.
• Prepare accurate estimates for parts and labor before commencing repairs.
• Advise customers on the proper use and maintenance of vehicle electrical systems.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
• Keep accurate records of repairs, parts used, and work completed.
• Collaborate with other technicians and support the overall efficiency of workshop operations.

Qualifications

• Technical Certificate, NVTI, TVET qualification, or equivalent certification in Auto Electrical, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3–4 years of practical experience as an Auto Electrician in an automotive workshop, garage, or dealership.
• Valid driver’s license is an advantage.
• Strong knowledge of conventional and modern automotive electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other automotive diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with a wide range of vehicle makes and models, including both local and international brands commonly used in Ghana.
