Position Summary
The Human Resource Manager will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for all human resource functions within the Ghana Red Cross Society. The successful candidate will develop and implement effective HR strategies, strengthen organizational capacity, ensure compliance with labour regulations, and promote a positive workplace culture aligned with GRCS values.
The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in human resource management, organizational development, employee relations, and HR best practices, with the ability to support a complex humanitarian organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Human Resource Management
- Develop and implement HR strategies, policies, and initiatives that support organizational goals.
- Provide strategic HR advice to senior management and departmental leaders.
- Align workforce planning and talent management initiatives with GRCS’s humanitarian objectives.
- Strengthen organizational effectiveness through people-focused solutions.
Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning
- Lead recruitment, selection, onboarding, and placement processes to attract qualified talent.
- Develop workforce plans that address current and future organizational needs.
- Ensure recruitment processes remain fair, transparent, and compliant with organizational policies.
- Support succession planning and talent development initiatives.
Employee Relations and Performance Management
- Promote a positive workplace culture based on respect, inclusion, accountability, and teamwork.
- Provide guidance on employee relations matters, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution.
- Manage performance management systems and support managers in setting and achieving performance objectives.
- Develop initiatives that improve employee engagement, motivation, and retention.
HR Policies, Compliance, and Administration
- Review, update, and implement HR policies and procedures in line with organizational needs and Ghana labour regulations.
- Ensure compliance with Ghana Labour Law and applicable employment standards.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation.
- Oversee HR reporting, workforce analytics, and administrative processes.
Learning, Development, and Organizational Growth
- Identify training and development needs across the organization.
- Support professional development initiatives that enhance employee capacity.
- Promote continuous learning and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Partner with leadership teams to strengthen organizational development.
Humanitarian Sector Support
- Support HR practices that respond to the unique needs of humanitarian and non-profit operations.
- Promote organizational values aligned with the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
- Support workforce readiness for emergency response and programme delivery.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Management, or a related field.
- Professional HR certification such as CIPD, SHRM, CIHRM Ghana, or equivalent certification is required.
Experience & Qualifications
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ progressive experience in human resource management.
- Demonstrated experience working in a senior HR leadership or management role.
- Strong knowledge of Ghana Labour Law, HR policies, and modern HR practices.
- Proven experience in organizational development, employee engagement, and workforce management.
- Experience working within the humanitarian, development, or non-profit sector will be an added advantage.
- Strong experience managing confidential employee information and sensitive HR matters.
