We are seeking an experienced Camp Boss / Quality, Health & Safety Officer to oversee camp operations, drive quality assurance initiatives, and ensure compliance with food safety, health, safety, and operational standards.

Position Summary

The Camp Boss / Quality, Health & Safety Officer will oversee the day-to-day management of camp operations while ensuring the highest standards of service delivery, food safety, quality assurance, and workplace health and safety. The successful candidate will coordinate operational teams, implement quality management systems, maintain compliance with HACCP requirements, and promote a culture of continuous improvement across all camp services.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with extensive experience in hospitality, catering, or camp management.

Key Responsibilities

Camp Operations Management

  • Supervise the daily operations of accommodation, catering, housekeeping, and laundry services.
  • Coordinate and manage work schedules, staffing levels, and daily duty rosters.
  • Ensure all camp services are delivered efficiently and meet client expectations.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and internal departments to ensure high service standards.
  • Monitor service quality and resolve operational issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate operational records, including attendance, incident reports, and client feedback.

Quality Assurance & Food Safety

  • Lead all quality assurance and food safety initiatives across camp operations.
  • Implement, monitor, and continuously improve quality management systems.
  • Conduct monthly food safety self-assessments.
  • Perform food safety testing in accordance with the approved HACCP plan.
  • Maintain and update HACCP documentation and ensure compliance with food safety procedures.
  • Verify quality controls, preventive measures, and corrective actions to maintain operational excellence.
  • Maintain accurate HACCP records in accordance with corporate procedures.
  • Investigate product defects, alleged food poisoning incidents, and foreign object complaints, and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor and report on quality performance indicators and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Promote and enforce compliance with health, safety, security, and environmental policies.
  • Ensure all employees comply with workplace safety procedures and security protocols.
  • Monitor compliance with knife handling and food preparation safety procedures.
  • Lead corrective action processes following inspections, audits, or incident investigations.
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the organization’s business management system.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through regular communication and awareness initiatives.

Inventory & Supply Coordination

  • Coordinate monthly product requirement forecasts and communicate procurement needs to the Supply Chain team.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure accurate monthly inventory counts.
  • Support efficient inventory management to minimize waste and maintain operational continuity.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to meet operational requirements.

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead and motivate multidisciplinary operational teams.
  • Participate actively in site coordination meetings and operational planning sessions.
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve operational performance and service delivery.
  • Prepare operational reports and recommend process improvements where necessary.
  • Perform any other duties assigned to support business objectives.

Educational Requirements

  • Diploma or higher qualification in Hospitality Management, Catering Management, Hotel Management, or a related field.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in camp management, hospitality, hotel operations, or catering management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing quality assurance and food safety systems.
  • Practical auditing experience.
  • Proven experience implementing and maintaining HACCP and food safety standards.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary operational teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in French will be an added advantage.
