Role Overview
We are seeking a meticulous, proactive, and results-oriented Accountant to strengthen our Finance & Accounting function. Reporting directly to the Senior Finance & Admin Coordinator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the full spectrum of accounting operations — from transaction processing and budget management to financial reporting, bank reconciliation, and regulatory compliance. This role is central to maintaining the financial health of the company and providing leadership with the accurate, timely financial data needed to drive strategic decisions in a dynamic, high-growth AI environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Â Financial Transactions & Recordkeeping
- Manage, verify, and accurately record all accounting transactions in the general ledger
- Track daily operational expenses and prepare detailed weekly, monthly, and quarterly expense reports for management review
- Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring completeness and accuracy
- Maintain up-to-date and well-organised financial records that are audit-ready at all times
- Â Budgeting & Financial Planning
- Prepare comprehensive annual and project-level budget forecasts in alignment with organisational goals
- Monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets and report variances with explanations and recommendations
- Actively contribute to the development and refinement of the company’s financial strategies and long-term plans
- Support leadership with financial modelling and scenario analysis for business decisions
- Â Accounts & Bank Reconciliation
- Perform regular and timely reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Conduct monthly bank reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly
- Process and authorise bank payments in line with approved schedules and internal controls
- Maintain a clean and current schedule of outstanding payables and receivables
- Â Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare accurate and insightful financial reports for ongoing and completed projects, including budget vs. actuals
- Produce periodic reports on the company’s financial health, liquidity position, and key financial indicators
- Maintain and reconcile balance sheets and profit & loss statements on a regular basis
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and commentary to support management and board-level decision-making
- Â Tax, Audit & Compliance
- Compute and file accurate tax returns (corporate income tax, VAT, PAYE, and withholding tax) in compliance with Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) requirements
- Audit financial transactions and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
- Ensure full adherence to internal financial policies, accounting standards, and applicable statutory regulations
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory bodies as required
- Â Data Integrity & Confidentiality
- Enforce strict financial data confidentiality protocols in line with company policy
- Perform regular database backups and support data recovery procedures to safeguard financial records
- Maintain a secure and well-structured digital and physical filing system for all financial documents
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- A. Degree in Accounting and Finance
- Part 1 or Part 2 of ICAGH (Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana)
- Additional certifications in accounting or finance are an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience
- Prior experience in a technology, NGO, or fast-growth environment preferred
- Hands-on experience with budgeting, reconciliations, and financial reporting
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modelling)
- Familiarity with ERP systems and financial dashboards
- Working knowledge of Ghana tax laws and GRA filing requirements
