Job Summary
The Advisor, Environment – Permitting will lead and support environmental permitting processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. The role focuses on managing environmental approvals, coordinating impact assessments, and ensuring timely delivery of permitting milestones for mining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead environmental permitting processes for projects and operational activities
- Coordinate and support Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) and related studies
- Ensure compliance with Ghanaian environmental regulations and international standards
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, stakeholders, and internal teams on permitting requirements
- Develop and maintain permitting schedules to meet project timelines
- Monitor regulatory changes and advise on compliance strategies
- Support risk identification and mitigation related to environmental permitting
- Prepare and review technical documentation and reports
- Contribute to continuous improvement of environmental management systems
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s or professional degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred
Additional Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of environmental management principles
- Sound understanding of project management practices
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements for project permitting
- Understanding of legal, technical, social, and environmental permitting processes in Ghana’s mining/extractive sector
- Ability to interpret and apply environmental regulations effectively
Experience
- Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in the environmental field
- Extensive experience in environmental impact assessment and permitting of large-scale developments
- Proven ability to manage permitting processes, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks effectively
- Demonstrated experience working with regulatory authorities and stakeholders
