Position Summary
Nestlé Ghana is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Boiler Technician to support the efficient operation and maintenance of boiler systems and utility equipment within the factory. The successful candidate will ensure continuous steam availability, maintain operational efficiency, and support compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, start up, shut down, and continuously monitor boilers and auxiliary equipment, including pumps, valves, compressors, and treatment systems.
- Maintain optimal operating conditions such as pressure, temperature, combustion efficiency, and water levels to ensure reliable performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and accurately record operational data in logbooks to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Monitor and control boiler water chemistry and support water treatment activities to prevent scaling, corrosion, and fouling.
- Identify operational abnormalities, troubleshoot faults, and escalate issues promptly to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
- Ensure continuous steam supply to support production requirements in line with established service levels.
- Participate in planned preventive maintenance (PPM) activities and support maintenance teams during inspections, servicing, and breakdown repairs.
- Maintain high housekeeping and cleanliness standards within the boiler house in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Contribute to energy efficiency initiatives and continuous improvement programs within utilities operations.
- Adhere to all safety, environmental, and operational procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Technical qualification or certification in Mechanical Engineering, Boiler Operations, Utilities Management, or a related technical field.
- Previous experience operating high-pressure steam systems and utility equipment is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of boiler systems, steam generation, and utility operations.
- Strong safety awareness with a commitment to compliance and operational excellence.
- Good troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to respond effectively and calmly during emergencies or operational disruptions.
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Good communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work independently and within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
