Position Summary
The Branch Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for the branch, ensuring efficient service delivery, sustainable business growth, effective risk management, and compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role requires a strong leader with proven experience in banking operations, credit administration, deposit mobilization, and customer relationship management.
Key Responsibilities
Branch Leadership & Operations Management
- Provide overall leadership and direction for branch operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and service excellence.
- Oversee daily banking operations and ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Develop and implement strategies that improve branch performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage branch resources, facilities, and operational risks effectively.
- Ensure the branch consistently achieves operational and service delivery targets.
Business Development & Growth
- Drive deposit mobilization initiatives and customer acquisition activities.
- Develop and execute business growth strategies that increase market share and profitability.
- Promote the Bank’s products and services within the community and identify opportunities for business expansion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, businesses, community leaders, and key stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to enhance revenue generation.
Credit Administration & Risk Management
- Oversee the end-to-end credit management process, including appraisal, approval recommendations, disbursement, monitoring, and recovery.
- Maintain the quality and performance of the branch loan portfolio.
- Monitor and mitigate credit risks while ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement effective loan recovery strategies and reduce portfolio-at-risk levels.
- Ensure prudent risk management practices across all branch activities.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
- Lead, coach, mentor, and motivate branch staff to achieve operational and business objectives.
- Conduct performance reviews and identify employee development and training needs.
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, professionalism, teamwork, and customer service excellence.
- Promote employee engagement and effective workforce planning.
- Ensure staff understand and comply with all operational and regulatory requirements.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure full compliance with Bank of Ghana regulations, ARB Apex Bank directives, Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, and internal policies.
- Strengthen internal controls and promote effective risk management practices.
- Address audit findings promptly and implement corrective actions where required.
- Promote ethical conduct, transparency, and regulatory compliance throughout the branch.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Monitor branch financial performance and drive achievement of profitability targets.
- Prepare and submit accurate operational, financial, and management reports within required timelines.
- Analyze branch performance indicators and recommend improvement initiatives.
- Ensure effective cash management and operational efficiency.
- Support budget planning and financial performance monitoring.
Customer Service & Community Engagement
- Deliver exceptional customer service and ensure prompt resolution of customer concerns.
- Represent the Bank at community meetings, business forums, and stakeholder engagements.
- Strengthen the Bank’s brand presence within the community.
- Develop customer retention strategies through proactive engagement and relationship management.
- Build long-term partnerships that support business growth and community development.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIB Ghana, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3–5 years of banking experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience within a Rural Bank or Community Bank environment will be highly advantageous.
- Proven expertise in branch operations, credit administration, deposit mobilization, and business development.
- Practical experience using Temenos T24 Banking Software is required.
Language Requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Proficiency in Dagbanli and/or other Northern Ghanaian languages will be a strong advantage.
Required Competencies
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent sales, marketing, and deposit mobilization capabilities.
- Sound credit appraisal, risk assessment, and loan recovery expertise.
- Strong knowledge of rural and community banking operations.
- Comprehensive understanding of Bank of Ghana regulations and banking compliance requirements.
- Excellent customer relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and consistently achieve business targets.
