Position Overview

We are seeking a disciplined, detail-oriented Cashier with strong numerical accuracy and high ethical standards to manage daily financial transactions and support inventory control processes.

The Cashier will play a key role in ensuring accurate cash handling, smooth customer service delivery, and reliable reconciliation of sales and stock records in a high-volume retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

• Attend to customer enquiries promptly and professionally
• Resolve basic transaction issues with patience and courtesy
• Maintain a welcoming and service-oriented environment for all customers

Financial Transaction Management

• Process cash, card, and mobile money payments accurately through the POS system
• Issue receipts for all completed transactions without error
• Record daily sales and ensure proper transaction documentation

End-of-Shift Reconciliation

• Perform daily cash counts at the start and end of each shift
• Reconcile cash, digital payments, and POS sales reports accurately
• Identify and report discrepancies immediately to management

Inventory & Stock Control

• Monitor stock levels in line with POS sales records
• Assist in daily stock counts and verification procedures
• Report any variances or inconsistencies in stock movement
• Support efforts to minimise stock shrinkage and maintain accurate records

Job Requirements

• HND in Accounting or a related discipline from a recognised tertiary institution
• Proven experience as a Cashier, Sales Assistant, or in a fast-paced retail/hospitality environment
• Strong knowledge of cash handling procedures and POS systems
• Good understanding of stock taking and inventory control processes
• High level of integrity, accountability, and financial discipline
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all transactions
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Proficiency in basic computer applications and POS operations
