Job Overview

As a Core Chemistry Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons that develop students’ understanding of scientific principles, laboratory practices, and problem-solving skills. You will create a positive classroom environment where students explore concepts, conduct experiments, and apply scientific knowledge to real-world situations.

You will support students in achieving academic excellence while preparing them for internal and external examinations in line with the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

• Plan, prepare, and deliver effective Core Chemistry lessons aligned with the GES curriculum.
• Teach Chemistry concepts including matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding, reactions, acids and bases, organic chemistry, and environmental chemistry.
• Develop lesson plans, teaching materials, practical activities, and assessment resources.
• Conduct and supervise laboratory experiments while ensuring students follow proper safety procedures.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, classwork, practical activities, tests, and examinations.
• Provide constructive feedback to support students’ academic progress.
• Prepare students for WASSCE and other academic assessments.
• Encourage scientific curiosity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Support students with different learning abilities through effective teaching approaches.
• Maintain an organised, safe, and engaging classroom and laboratory environment.
• Participate in departmental meetings, school activities, and professional development programmes.
• Collaborate with colleagues to improve teaching strategies and student outcomes.
• Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
• Promote the school’s values, policies, and commitment to student wellbeing.

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate should possess:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemistry Education, Science Education, or a related field.
• A recognized teaching qualification will be an added advantage.
• Previous teaching experience at the Senior High School level is preferred.
• Experience teaching Core Chemistry within the GES curriculum will be an advantage.
