Position Summary
Preset Pacesetters Senior High School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-focused Core English Teacher to deliver high-quality English Language instruction at the Senior High School level. The successful candidate will develop students’ communication, comprehension, writing, and analytical skills while preparing them for academic success in internal assessments and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Core English lessons in accordance with the Ghana Education Service (GES) curriculum and the school’s academic standards.
- Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that encourages effective communication, creativity, and critical thinking.
- Teach key areas of English Language including grammar, comprehension, summary writing, oral communication, vocabulary development, and composition writing.
- Develop students’ reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills through interactive teaching methods.
- Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and learning activities that support effective classroom delivery.
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate student performance through assignments, class exercises, quizzes, tests, presentations, and examinations.
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support students’ continuous academic improvement.
- Prepare students effectively for internal examinations and the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
- Encourage students to develop confidence in communication and effective use of the English language.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student progress.
- Use educational technology and innovative teaching strategies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Support students with different learning abilities through appropriate instructional approaches.
- Promote discipline, respect, and a positive classroom culture.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding students’ academic progress and development.
- Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum delivery and improve learning outcomes.
- Participate actively in departmental meetings, school events, literary activities, extracurricular programmes, and professional development initiatives.
- Uphold the school’s values, policies, and commitment to educational excellence.
Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in English Language, English Education, Linguistics, Communication Studies, or a related discipline.
- A recognized professional teaching qualification or teacher licensure.
- A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of teaching experience at the Senior High School level.
- Experience preparing students for WASSCE English Language examinations will be an added advantage.
