Position Overview

GBfoods seeks a skilled Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize scalable data solutions across the Group. The role focuses on developing robust data pipelines, enabling business insights, and ensuring high data quality and governance standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in advancing the organization’s data platform and supporting analytics and AI-driven initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Group Data Engineering & Integration

• Design, build, and maintain end-to-end data pipelines that ingest, transform, and deliver data from multiple internal and external sources
• Contribute to the development and operation of Group data lake and data warehouse environments, ensuring scalability, consistency, and reusability
• Integrate diverse data domains—including commercial, financial, marketing, consumer, and operational data—into a unified data ecosystem

Data Modelling & Business Enablement

• Develop and maintain data models and semantic layers to support analytics, business intelligence, and AI use cases
• Collaborate with business and analytics teams to translate requirements into scalable data structures
• Ensure data is accessible, reliable, and optimized for downstream consumption

Data Governance & Quality

• Implement and enforce data governance standards, including data cataloguing, lineage tracking, access controls, and data security policies
• Ensure compliance with data protection standards, including proper handling of sensitive and personal data
• Continuously monitor and improve data quality, availability, and reliability

Operations & Continuous Improvement

• Monitor and maintain data pipelines to ensure high performance and reliability
• Apply best practices such as version control, automated testing, and documentation
• Contribute to the evolution of data standards, frameworks, and tools in collaboration with Data Architecture and IT teams

AI-Enabled & Future-Oriented Practices

• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and efficiency
• Explore and adopt modern data engineering approaches aligned with the organization’s digital and AI strategy

Educational Background & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data engineering, data warehousing, or business intelligence roles
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Hands-on experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure, Snowflake, BigQuery, or similar)
• Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT pipelines, and data warehouse/lakehouse architectures
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or equivalent
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and basic CI/CD practices
• Exposure to distributed processing technologies such as Spark or Databricks is an advantage
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical data solutions
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across cross-functional and international teams
• Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
• Continuous learning mindset, particularly in modern data engineering and AI-driven tools
• Results-oriented approach with a focus on delivering business impact
