Position: Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA)

Position Summary

The University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA).

The Director serves as the Head of DAPQA and provides strategic leadership in academic planning, programme development, and institutional quality assurance. The role reports directly to the Vice-Chancellor and plays a critical role in ensuring the University maintains high academic standards and continuous improvement across all programmes.


Key Responsibilities

The Director will:

  • Lead the coordination, development, and monitoring of academic programmes across the University.
  • Spearhead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the University-wide quality assurance systems.
  • Establish and oversee mechanisms that ensure high performance standards in teaching, learning, and research.
  • Provide strategic direction in academic planning aligned with the University’s vision and goals.
  • Ensure compliance with national and international accreditation and quality assurance standards.
  • Advise Management on policies related to academic quality, programme accreditation, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with faculties, departments, and external stakeholders to promote a culture of quality and excellence.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must:

  • Hold a PhD in a relevant discipline.
  • Be of professorial rank and an internationally acclaimed scholar.
  • Demonstrate substantial teaching, research, and administrative experience in a university or analogous institution.
  • Possess strong knowledge and practical experience in academic planning and quality assurance systems.
  • Be well grounded in the principles of Total Quality Management (TQM).
  • Exhibit strong leadership, strategic thinking, and communication skills.

Terms of Appointment

  • The position is full-time.
  • The appointment is for a four (4) year term, renewable for an additional four (4) years only, subject to satisfactory performance and not exceeding the statutory retirement age.
