Position Summary
The University invites applications from highly qualified, visionary, and experienced professionals for the position of Director of Works and Physical Development. The successful candidate will lead the Directorate and report directly to the Vice-Chancellor. He/she will oversee the planning, execution, and maintenance of all physical infrastructure projects and ensure compliance with national and international standards.

Key Responsibilities
The Director shall:
- Lead and supervise all construction, renovation, and maintenance works across the University
- Ensure all projects comply with approved specifications, standards, and industry regulations
- Manage and oversee all construction contracts to ensure timely and quality delivery
- Advise on procurement of consultancy services related to works and infrastructure development
- Oversee the maintenance of university assets including buildings, roads, drains, parks, and landscaping
- Guide land use planning, acquisition, and development control
- Advise the Vice-Chancellor and University Council on infrastructure and land development matters
- Ensure effective documentation of project designs, drawings, and infrastructure records
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Vice-Chancellor
Required Qualifications & Experience
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in a Built Environment discipline
- Possess relevant professional certification such as membership of:
- Ghana Institute of Architects (GIA)
- Ghana Institution of Engineering (GhIE)
- Ghana Institution of Surveyors (GhIS)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (advantageous)
- Have served as Deputy Director of Works and Physical Development (or equivalent role) for at least 6 years
- Possess a minimum of 20 years relevant post-qualification experience in industry, commerce, or public service
- Demonstrate proficiency in relevant computer and design/software applications
- Exhibit strong leadership, organizational, and project management capabilities
- Show proven ability to manage teams, motivate staff, and deliver complex infrastructure projects
- Be visionary, result-oriented, and professionally distinguished
Terms of Appointment
- The appointment is full-time and offered for an initial term of four (4) years
- The appointment may be renewed for one additional four-year term based on satisfactory performance
- The second term must not extend beyond the statutory retirement age
- Candidates must be able to serve at least a full four-year term before attaining the age of 60
- Salary and conditions of service are highly competitive and attractive
