Role Overview
The Engine Field Service Technician – Level III provides advanced technical expertise in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy-duty engines across customer sites. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equipment reliability, supporting customer operations, and upholding Cummins’ high standards of service, safety, and quality. The successful candidate operates with a high degree of independence while also mentoring junior technicians and contributing to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced diagnostics, repairs, overhauls, and rebuilds across multiple engine platforms with minimal supervision.
- Perform preventative maintenance in accordance with established standards to enhance engine performance and longevity.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues using specialized tools, documented procedures, and company policies.
- Build strong customer relationships through responsive, professional, and high-quality service delivery.
- Escalate complex or unresolved technical issues to product specialists or leadership when required.
- Coach and mentor technicians and apprentices, promoting knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
- Identify additional service or sales opportunities that add value to customers and support business growth.
- Maintain strict compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards, ensuring a safe and professional work environment.
- Accurately document service activities and maintain tools and equipment in optimal condition.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills
- Apprentice-trained Engine Technician qualification (preferred).
- Technician Level I, II, or III certification, Engineering Diploma, or Degree in a relevant field.
- Vocational diploma from a recognized technical institution.
- Valid local driving license.
- Significant hands-on experience in heavy-duty field service, ideally within mining, power generation, or industrial sectors.
- Proven ability to work independently in remote, cross-border, or high-pressure environments.
- Advanced technical expertise in mechanical and electrical engine systems, including diagnostics and repair.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and guide technicians while maintaining high standards.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues clearly to customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate in French is an advantage but not mandatory.
