The Role
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Expeditor to join our team in Accra. In this role, you will support the efficient coordination of import logistics, customs clearance, cargo handling, and parts management to ensure smooth and cost-effective operations across the business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining high operational standards, supporting timely deliveries, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
As an Expeditor, you will:
- Evaluate cargo handling activities to ensure efficient customs clearance and delivery processes.
- Register all imports from overseas suppliers in compliance with customs and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with clearing agents and brokers to facilitate prompt shipment clearance and delivery to service centres.
- Collate and verify shipping and customs documentation for goods received from the port prior to inbound processing.
- Register and track all parts-related issues, including incorrect spares, damaged parts, shortages, and overages through the Sandvik LPS system, ensuring timely resolution.
- Monitor all orders for SMC Ghana to ensure timely, efficient, and cost-effective delivery.
- Maintain strict adherence to Sandvik policies and procedures, with particular emphasis on SHEQ standards.
- Carry out any other duties assigned by management from time to time.
Qualifications and Competencies
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A minimum Degree in Purchasing & Supply or a related field.
- Part qualification in CIPS or an equivalent professional certification.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- At least three (3) years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience in cargo management and import logistics.
- Knowledge of Aurora Software will be an added advantage.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Data analytics capability.
- Ability to communicate in French will be an advantage.
- Strong teamwork skills with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
