We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Factory Manager to lead our manufacturing operations in Accra. The successful candidate will oversee production performance, operational efficiency, quality assurance, maintenance, cost management, and workforce development while ensuring the highest standards across our manufacturing processes, including PET Preforms, Closures, Injection Moulding (IML), Thinwall Packaging, Gallons, Crates, and Offset Printing Production.

Key Responsibilities

Factory Operations & Production Management

As the Factory Manager, you will:

  • Lead and oversee daily factory operations to achieve production targets, quality standards, and delivery commitments.
  • Develop and execute production plans, schedules, and operational strategies to maximise efficiency and capacity utilisation.
  • Manage production activities across PET Preforms, Closures, IML, Thinwall, Gallons, Crates, Offset Printing, and related manufacturing processes.
  • Monitor production performance and implement initiatives to improve productivity, reduce waste, and optimise operational costs.
  • Ensure all manufactured products meet approved specifications, customer requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Prepare and present production reports, operational updates, and performance metrics to senior management.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Maintenance, Engineering, and Quality teams to ensure seamless production flow.
  • Implement lean manufacturing principles, continuous improvement initiatives, and operational excellence programmes.

Quality Management & Compliance

You will:

  • Ensure all products consistently meet company quality standards and customer expectations.
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance team to maintain effective quality management systems.
  • Monitor quality performance indicators, including defect rates, rework levels, product returns, and customer complaints.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action (CAPA) processes to address quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry certifications and standards, including ISO, GMP, HACCP, and other applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of audit findings.
  • Promote a culture of quality ownership across all factory operations.

Maintenance & Asset Management

You will:

  • Ensure the reliability, availability, and optimal performance of all production machinery and equipment.
  • Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programmes to minimise downtime and production interruptions.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Maintenance teams to improve equipment efficiency.
  • Coordinate machinery repairs, upgrades, installations, and commissioning of new production equipment.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement solutions to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).

Financial & Cost Management

You will:

  • Manage factory operating budgets and control production-related expenses.
  • Monitor production costs, material usage, energy consumption, waste levels, and resource efficiency.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or safety.
  • Support capital expenditure planning and business cases for equipment upgrades and factory improvements.
  • Drive efficient utilisation of labour, materials, and production resources.

People Leadership & Development

You will:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop factory teams, including production managers, supervisors, technicians, and operators.
  • Build a high-performance culture focused on accountability, teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of factory employees.
  • Develop the capabilities of supervisors and emerging leaders within the manufacturing environment.
  • Ensure compliance with labour regulations, company policies, and workplace standards.
  • Promote employee engagement and effective communication across factory operations.

Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement

You will:

  • Monitor and report key operational performance indicators, including:
    • Production output
    • Machine utilisation
    • Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
    • Product quality performance
    • Safety performance
    • Cost efficiency
    • Waste reduction
    • On-time delivery performance
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly operational reports for senior management.
  • Use production data and analytics to identify improvement opportunities and support decision-making.
  • Drive initiatives that improve productivity, reliability, and operational excellence.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Production efficiency and capacity utilisation.
  • Improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Achievement of production and delivery targets.
  • Reduction in product defects, rework, and customer complaints.
  • Improved workplace safety performance.
  • Reduction in production costs and material waste.
  • Increased employee productivity and operational discipline.
  • Successful implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
  • A master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA), Engineering, or a related discipline will be an advantage.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in manufacturing operations.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in a senior factory leadership or plant management role.
  • Experience working within multinational or large-scale manufacturing organisations will be highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, quality systems, manufacturing processes, and safety management.

Technical Skills

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Strong expertise in production planning, scheduling, and manufacturing operations.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and industrial standards.
  • Experience managing production equipment, maintenance systems, and manufacturing assets.
  • Proficiency in production management systems and digital tools such as MS Office, Excel, SAP, ORION, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing analytics and performance reporting.

Work Environment

This is a factory-based role operating within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The position may require extended working hours during peak production periods and occasional travel for supplier engagements, training programmes, or corporate meetings.
