We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Civil Engineer to join our Project Development team at the Ahafo South Mine. Key Responsibilities
Construction Engineering & Design Support
As the Civil Engineer, you will:
- Prepare detailed engineering reports, technical specifications, scopes of work, and tender documentation for construction projects.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with approved designs, engineering standards, quality requirements, and health and safety regulations.
- Produce infrastructure designs, including concrete, steel, timber, drainage, roadworks, and earthworks, in accordance with project specifications.
- Perform quantity take-offs and support the preparation of Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Assist the Structural Engineer in developing structural drawings and engineering details that meet applicable standards and specifications.
- Review contractor work to ensure quality, compliance, and adherence to approved engineering designs.
Project Planning & Delivery
You will:
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee civil engineering projects, including buildings, roads, drainage systems, earthworks, and mining-related infrastructure.
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and quality standards to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support the Project Controls team by providing accurate progress updates, quantity measurements, and site reports.
- Assist in preparing claims documentation and validating supporting records for contractor payment certificates.
- Maintain comprehensive project records, including daily site reports, progress updates, and construction documentation.
- Monitor project performance and proactively identify deviations from approved schedules and recommend corrective actions.
Construction Management & Project Support
You will:
- Prepare project cost estimates, economic evaluations, and Authorisation for Expenditure (AFE) documentation.
- Provide field engineering support through regular site inspections and quality assurance activities.
- Develop engineering proposals, construction documentation, and bid evaluation materials.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including Mining Operations, Supply Chain, Social Performance, Environment, Maintenance, and Project Controls, to ensure successful project execution.
- Build productive relationships with contractors, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory authorities to facilitate project approvals and implementation.
- Identify project risks, recommend mitigation strategies, and monitor the effectiveness of risk management plans throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Building Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- Membership with a recognised professional engineering or construction institution.
- A minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in construction supervision and project engineering.
- Demonstrated experience delivering real estate housing or mining resettlement housing projects.
- Proven experience managing foundation works, reinforced concrete, structural steel, and portal frame construction within the mining industry.
- Experience managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
- Strong project engineering and construction management experience within large-scale industrial or mining environments.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and construction management software.
- Sound understanding of construction standards, engineering specifications, and project management principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and engineering judgment.
- Strong report-writing, communication, and presentation skills.
- Advanced computer literacy and proficiency in project documentation and information management.
- The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately.
