We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Excavator Operator to join our Mining Operations team at Ahafo Mine.

Position Summary

The Excavator Operator will safely and efficiently operate heavy excavating equipment to support mining and production activities in an open pit environment. The successful candidate will ensure equipment is operated in accordance with company standards, contribute to production targets, and maintain the highest levels of safety, efficiency, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Excavator Operations

• Operate excavators safely and efficiently to support mining and material movement activities.
• Perform excavation, loading, stockpiling, and related earthmoving operations according to production plans.
• Monitor equipment performance and operating conditions throughout each shift.
• Operate machinery in compliance with established operating procedures and safety standards.

Equipment Inspection & Maintenance

• Conduct pre-start inspections and routine equipment checks before operation.
• Identify and report equipment faults, defects, or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper care during daily operations.
• Support maintenance personnel during scheduled servicing and repairs.

Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to all health, safety, environmental, and operational procedures.
• Identify workplace hazards and report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Participate actively in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with all mining regulations and company policies.

Operational Support

• Work closely with supervisors and other heavy equipment operators to achieve daily production targets.
• Follow loading plans and operational instructions accurately.
• Maintain accurate operational records and report completed activities as required.

Qualifications & Experience

Applicants must possess:

• Senior High School Certificate or equivalent qualification.
• A valid Minerals Commission Operator’s Licence.
• A valid Driver’s Licence (Class E).
• A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of excavator operating experience in an open pit mining environment.

Additional Knowledge

• Sound knowledge of excavator operations and safe operating practices.
• General knowledge of excavators and other heavy mining equipment.
• Good understanding of mining operational procedures and workplace safety requirements.
