Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head – Natural Resources Risk Solutions to lead the development and delivery of specialized risk solutions within the natural resources sector.

The successful candidate will drive business growth, provide technical leadership, and oversee the structuring of insurance and risk solutions for clients in industries such as oil and gas, mining, energy, and related sectors. This role requires strong commercial acumen, deep technical expertise, and proven leadership in insurance and risk advisory services.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of tailored risk solutions for clients in the natural resources sector.
• Drive business development initiatives to grow revenue and expand the client portfolio within target industries.
• Provide technical expertise in insurance broking, underwriting, and risk structuring for complex client needs.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients, industry stakeholders, insurers, and reinsurance partners.
• Lead negotiations on insurance placements, coverage structures, and pricing strategies.
• Identify emerging risks within the natural resources sector and develop innovative mitigation solutions.
• Oversee the preparation of proposals, presentations, and technical submissions for clients and prospects.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality advisory services that meet client expectations and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery and client satisfaction.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to inform strategic decision-making.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Insurance, Risk Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in insurance broking, underwriting, risk advisory, or business development.
• Strong understanding of natural resources industries such as oil and gas, mining, energy, or heavy industry sectors.
• Professional insurance qualification (e.g., CII or equivalent) will be an added advantage.
• Proven track record in client relationship management and business development.
• Strong technical knowledge of insurance products, risk structures, and placement strategies.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in managing teams or business units.
