Position Summary
The Maintenance Officer will ensure that all building systems, facilities, and infrastructure are properly inspected, maintained, and repaired in a timely and efficient manner. The role requires strong technical competence, responsiveness to tenant needs, and strict adherence to safety and operational standards.
The successful candidate will actively support preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, tenant installations, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Building Maintenance & Inspections
- Conduct regular inspections of buildings to identify maintenance needs and potential issues.
- Respond promptly and efficiently to tenant maintenance requests and service calls.
- Inspect building exteriors and interiors to identify defects, damages, or safety concerns.
- Check and maintain doors, locks, and access systems, ensuring proper functionality.
- Inspect sanitary fittings including taps, basins, urinals, and related plumbing fixtures.
- Monitor building equipment such as air-conditioning systems, standby pumps, sump pumps, and water tanks.
- Identify and report maintenance issues to the Operations Manager and schedule corrective actions.
Repairs & Preventive Maintenance
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks where required.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the Operations Manager or relevant contractors.
- Conduct routine checks on equipment and ensure optimal operating conditions.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, repairs, and service schedules.
- Support preventive maintenance programmes to reduce downtime and operational disruptions.
Safety, Compliance & OSH Management
- Ensure full compliance with safety rules, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Conduct regular Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) inspections.
- Support the implementation of OSHA standards across all facilities.
- Identify hazards and recommend corrective measures to ensure a safe working environment.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency procedures and ensure readiness of emergency equipment.
Tenant Installations & Support
- Conduct quality control inspections on tenant installations during and after completion.
- Ensure premises are in good condition before tenant occupation.
- Assist tenants, together with the Building Manager, during move-in and relocation activities.
- Support the removal or adjustment of partitions and minor layout modifications where required.
- Ensure tenant spaces meet required operational and safety standards.
Operational Coordination & Reporting
- Communicate daily maintenance issues to the Operations Manager for planning and resolution.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules in consultation with management.
- Maintain accurate logs of inspections, repairs, and equipment status.
- Submit regular maintenance and OSH reports as required.
- Support efficient workflow between maintenance teams, contractors, and property management.
Equipment & Systems Monitoring
- Inspect and monitor building systems and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Ensure familiarity with emergency systems and operational procedures.
- Report malfunctioning equipment and follow up on repairs and servicing.
Qualifications
Education
- Minimum of a Technical or Vocational qualification in Building Maintenance, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
Experience
- Previous experience in building maintenance, facilities management, or a similar technical role is an advantage.
- Experience in commercial or property management environments will be beneficial.
