Position Summary
The Junior Communications Specialist supports the planning, implementation, and coordination of communication activities that strengthen programme visibility, stakeholder engagement, knowledge sharing, and public outreach. The position requires strong multimedia production skills, excellent organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple communication initiatives simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Content Creation & Multimedia Production
- Edit and produce high-quality video content highlighting programme activities, stakeholder engagements, trainings, workshops, conferences, and public events.
- Capture, edit, and organize professional photographs for storytelling, project documentation, reporting, and visibility purposes.
- Develop visual communication products for digital and print platforms.
- Produce engaging multimedia content that aligns with programme objectives and branding standards.
- Support the creation and dissemination of communication materials that enhance programme visibility and stakeholder engagement.
Knowledge Management & Information Systems
- Manage communication databases, media libraries, publications, and knowledge repositories.
- Maintain digital archives and ensure communication assets are properly stored, categorized, and accessible.
- Support organizational knowledge management initiatives and information-sharing processes.
- Ensure communication resources remain accurate, updated, and easily retrievable.
Communication Assets Management
- Oversee communication equipment and assets.
- Monitor asset utilization, maintenance schedules, and inventory records.
- Ensure communication tools and equipment remain functional and available for programme activities.
- Maintain accurate records of communication assets and equipment.
Administrative & Logistical Support
- Provide administrative support for communication activities, campaigns, and projects.
- Coordinate logistics for meetings, workshops, conferences, stakeholder engagements, and public events.
- Support procurement processes related to communication materials, equipment, and services.
- Track communication requests and ensure their timely execution.
Stakeholder Engagement Support
- Assist in organizing communication and outreach activities with stakeholders.
- Support visibility campaigns and public engagement initiatives.
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams and external stakeholders.
- Strengthen relationships with partners, beneficiaries, service providers, and other relevant stakeholders.
Reporting & Documentation
- Document communication activities and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor progress on communication assignments and ensure deadlines are met.
- Prepare reports, updates, briefs, and communication summaries.
- Support project documentation, impact storytelling, lessons learned, and success stories.
Other Duties
- Perform other communication, administrative, and project-related responsibilities assigned by management.
- Contribute actively to team objectives and programme priorities.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Digital Content Creation & Multimedia Production, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, Marketing, or a closely related field.
Professional Experience
- Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of relevant professional experience in communications, multimedia production, digital content creation, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in video production, photography, content development, and visual storytelling.
- Experience supporting communication campaigns, stakeholder engagement activities, and public events is an advantage.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate should demonstrate proficiency in:
- Photography and photo editing.
- Videography and video production.
- Video editing and multimedia content creation.
- Graphic design and visual communication.
- Knowledge management systems administration.
- Digital content management.
- Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and related design software.
- Communication asset management and documentation.
