Job Summary
Fido seeks an experienced and strategic Head of Legal to lead its legal and corporate governance functions. In this role, you will provide expert legal guidance, manage legal risks, and ensure full regulatory compliance while supporting business growth. You will work closely with executive leadership and the Board to strengthen governance frameworks and drive sound legal and compliance practices across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Legal Advisory & Contract Management
- Provide proactive legal advice on all matters affecting business operations, strategy, and risk exposure
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts, agreements, and legal documents to safeguard the company’s interests
- Oversee the full contract lifecycle, including approvals, renewals, amendments, and terminations
- Manage and coordinate external legal counsel, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective legal services
Board & Corporate Governance
- Serve as Company Secretary and lead all board secretarial functions
- Coordinate Board, Committee, and Annual General Meetings, including preparation of agendas, papers, and minutes
- Track and follow up on action items from Board and Committee meetings to ensure timely execution
- Facilitate effective communication between the Board and Management
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies
- Support Board and Committee effectiveness through performance evaluations, training, and adherence to governance frameworks
Regulatory & Compliance Support
- Promote a strong compliance culture through training, awareness, and policy enforcement
- Review regulatory filings, disclosures, and responses to regulatory inquiries
- Monitor changes in laws and regulations and advise management on business impact
- Support engagement with the Bank of Ghana and other regulators, including licensing, submissions, and audits
Qualification Required & Experience
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a recognized institution
- Licensed to practice law in Ghana and in good standing
- Minimum of seven (7) years’ legal experience within the financial services sector, including in-house and/or law firm experience
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial and technology-related agreements

- Strong business acumen with the ability to align legal strategies with organizational goals
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and presentation skills
- Strong problem-solving ability with a proactive approach
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to advise stakeholders at all levels
- Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage complex legal matters efficiently
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team
