Role Summary
The High School Spanish Teacher will deliver engaging and student-centred instruction that develops students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in Spanish. The successful candidate will create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes language acquisition, intercultural understanding, and academic excellence while supporting the school’s Christian mission and values.
Key Responsibilities
As the High School Spanish Teacher, you will:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging Spanish language lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and educational standards.
- Teach Spanish language skills, including listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation.
- Foster students’ understanding and appreciation of Spanish-speaking cultures and global perspectives.
- Create interactive learning experiences that encourage communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and language proficiency levels of students.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Integrate technology and digital learning resources to enhance language instruction.
- Maintain an inclusive, respectful, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes active participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to support students’ academic and personal growth.
- Participate actively in school events, staff meetings, professional development programmes, and school improvement initiatives.
- Uphold and model the school’s Christian values in all interactions with students and the wider school community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Spanish, Modern Languages, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or professional teaching licence.
Experience
- Previous teaching experience at the high school level is preferred.
- Experience teaching the American, International, or International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum is an advantage.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
- Experience preparing students for internationally recognized language assessments is an added advantage.
