Position Summary
The Laundry Attendant is responsible for the efficient processing, cleaning, pressing, sorting, and handling of hotel linens, uniforms, and guest laundry. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that all laundry services are delivered professionally, efficiently, and in accordance with hotel quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Laundry Operations
- Sort, wash, dry, fold, and press hotel linens, towels, uniforms, and guest garments according to established procedures.
- Operate laundry equipment safely and efficiently, including washing machines, dryers, steam presses, and ironing equipment.
- Ensure laundry items are processed within required turnaround times and quality standards.
- Inspect linens and garments for stains, damage, or wear and report issues to supervisors.
- Apply appropriate cleaning methods and detergents based on fabric types and care instructions.
Quality Assurance
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and garment care.
- Ensure all laundry items are properly cleaned, pressed, folded, and prepared for distribution.
- Verify guest laundry orders for completeness and accuracy before delivery.
- Support efforts to minimize linen loss and damage.
Inventory & Linen Management
- Assist in organizing and tracking hotel linen inventory.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of clean linens, uniforms, and guest laundry.
- Report shortages, damaged items, and replacement needs promptly.
- Support periodic linen and laundry inventory counts.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
- Handle laundry chemicals and cleaning agents safely and according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laundry work environment.
- Report equipment malfunctions, hazards, and maintenance requirements promptly.
Teamwork & Guest Service
- Work collaboratively with housekeeping and other hotel departments to support operational needs.
- Assist with special laundry requests and urgent guest requirements where necessary.
- Contribute to maintaining a positive, professional, and service-oriented work environment.
- Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Experience
Educational Requirements
- Senior High School Certificate, Vocational Training, Hospitality Certification, or equivalent qualification.
- Additional training in laundry operations, housekeeping, or hospitality services will be an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of two (2) to five (5) years of relevant experience in laundry operations, housekeeping, hospitality services, dry cleaning, or a related environment.
- Previous experience in a hotel, resort, guest house, serviced apartment, commercial laundry facility, or hospitality establishment is preferred.
- Familiarity with laundry equipment and garment care procedures will be an advantage.
