Position Summary

The Lecturer in Education Studies (Guidance and Counselling) will contribute to the College’s academic mission through teaching, research, student mentorship, and service to the institution. The successful candidate will support the development of future educators by delivering high-quality instruction, conducting impactful research, and participating actively in academic and administrative activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching and learning activities in Guidance and Counselling and related courses.
• Prepare course materials, assignments, assessments, and examination questions.
• Mark assignments, examinations, and other academic assessments in a timely manner.
• Invigilate examinations and ensure adherence to examination regulations.
• Supervise students during Supported Teaching in Schools (STS) and other field-based learning activities.
• Supervise undergraduate student projects and research work.
• Conduct research and publish scholarly work in recognized academic outlets.
• Participate in departmental, faculty, and institutional administrative activities.
• Contribute to extension services and community engagement initiatives undertaken by the College.
• Support curriculum development and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Perform any other academic or administrative duties assigned by the Principal or an authorized representative.

Qualifications and Requirements

Applicants must possess:

• A Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Guidance and Counselling or a closely related field from a recognized institution.
• A Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Guidance and Counselling.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Guidance and Counselling.
• A Teacher Education Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), which is compulsory.
• A minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or other recognized educational institution.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, research, and academic development.

Note: Applicants currently pursuing a PhD programme may also be considered.
