We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Measurement Operator (Land Surveyor) to join our project and construction support team in Takoradi.

Position Summary

The Measurement Operator (Land Surveyor) will conduct accurate field measurements, support construction layout activities, and ensure all survey data meets engineering and design specifications. The role requires strong technical competence in surveying instruments, data processing, and field execution to support infrastructure and industrial development projects.

The successful candidate will work independently and collaboratively to ensure precision, safety, and compliance across all surveying operations.

Key Responsibilities

Field Surveys & Instrument Operation

  • Operate surveying instruments including total stations, auto/digital levels, GPS-RTK systems, and related equipment with high accuracy.
  • Conduct independent field surveys such as topographic mapping, boundary identification, and construction layout.
  • Capture and record field measurements for engineering and construction applications.
  • Maintain and calibrate surveying equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.

Construction Layout & Verification

  • Set out building axes, road alignments, drainage systems, and structural layouts based on approved design drawings.
  • Verify as-built conditions against project specifications and engineering plans.
  • Monitor earthwork quantities and validate compliance with design tolerances.
  • Support site engineers in ensuring accurate implementation of construction designs.

Data Management & Reporting

  • Record, process, and analyze survey data using software such as AutoCAD and GIS tools.
  • Prepare detailed survey reports, sketches, and digital maps for project teams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all field activities and measurements.
  • Support data integration for planning, design, and project execution.

Quality Assurance & Safety

  • Ensure all survey work meets required accuracy standards (±3mm–5mm precision).
  • Follow all site safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times.
  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Maintain compliance with company and industry safety regulations.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for this role, you should possess:

  • A Diploma, HND, or Degree in Geomatic Engineering, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience operating surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS-RTK systems, and digital levels.
  • Strong knowledge of coordinate systems, leveling, and construction surveying principles.
  • Ability to work independently in remote or rural project sites with minimal supervision.

Experience

  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in infrastructure surveying.
  • Experience in roads, pipelines, buildings, or other civil engineering construction projects.
  • Strong field experience in construction layout and survey verification activities.

Technical Competencies

The ideal candidate should demonstrate:

  • Strong proficiency in total station operations, including angle/distance measurement and coordinate calculations.
  • Competence in auto/digital leveling for elevation control and differential leveling.
  • Ability to process survey data using AutoCAD, GIS, or similar software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all measurements.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering plans.
