As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a dedicated and customer-oriented Medicine Counter Assistant to join our team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to patient care by supporting pharmacy operations and ensuring a positive experience for our clients.

Position Summary

The Medicine Counter Assistant will support the efficient operation of the medicine dispensing area by assisting customers, managing inventory, processing sales transactions, and ensuring medicines and healthcare products are handled accurately and professionally.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent customer service skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Patient Support

  • Welcome and assist patients and customers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding available medications and healthcare products.
  • Direct patients to the appropriate healthcare professional when clinical advice is required.
  • Ensure a positive customer experience by providing prompt and efficient service.

Medicine Counter Operations

  • Assist with the preparation and dispensing of medications under the supervision of qualified pharmacy personnel where applicable.
  • Accurately process sales transactions and issue receipts.
  • Organize and maintain medicine displays and product shelves.
  • Ensure medicines and healthcare products are stored appropriately and safely.

Inventory Management

  • Monitor stock levels and report low-stock items to management.
  • Assist with receiving, checking, and organizing pharmaceutical supplies and healthcare products.
  • Conduct routine stock counts and support inventory control activities.
  • Ensure products are correctly labeled and arranged according to established procedures.

Compliance & Quality Standards

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization within the medicine counter area.
  • Follow all health, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Handle customer information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Support compliance with applicable pharmacy and healthcare regulations.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and inventory activities.
  • Assist with daily operational and administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Support the healthcare team in ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.

Qualifications & Educational Requirements

Candidates must possess:

  • A Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy Technology, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Additional training or certification in pharmacy assistance or healthcare administration will be an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a pharmacy, healthcare facility, medicine shop, hospital, or related environment.
  • Experience handling medicines, healthcare products, inventory management, or customer service functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Location Requirement

Applicants must reside in or around Mataheko, Dansoman, Kaneshie, or nearby communities to facilitate timely attendance and effective service delivery.
