We are looking for a highly analytical and commercially astute MFS Finance Manager to join our Finance team and play a critical role in driving financial performance, strategic planning, and business intelligence across our Mobile Financial Services portfolio.

Role Purpose

The MFS Finance Manager will lead financial planning, performance management, business intelligence, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial analysis activities within the Mobile Financial Services business. The role will provide strategic financial leadership, enabling informed decision-making, sustainable growth, and operational excellence across the MFS portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Performance Management

  • Own end-to-end business performance reporting across all Mobile Financial Services products and customer segments.
  • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making and business growth.
  • Design and implement standardized reporting templates and key performance indicators (KPIs) for daily, weekly, and monthly performance tracking.
  • Monitor business performance trends and proactively identify opportunities and risks.

Business Intelligence & Analytics

  • Lead the definition of business logic and management information reporting frameworks for key business analyses.
  • Drive business intelligence initiatives that support target allocation across customer segments, products, and geographical regions.
  • Ensure KPI performance is accurately measured, monitored, and reported across the business.
  • Analyze competitor activities, market trends, and emerging opportunities, recommending strategic actions and product enhancements.

Financial Planning & Commercial Support

  • Manage the Mobile Financial Services profit and loss account, including variance analysis and strategic recommendations.
  • Lead periodic budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in collaboration with Finance and business stakeholders.
  • Partner with segment and vertical owners to develop, monitor, and reforecast business plans.
  • Guide business units throughout the budget lifecycle, from planning and submission through to approval and execution.

Cost Management & Governance

  • Take accountability for Consumer Operating Expenditure (OPEX), ensuring effective planning, control, and accurate financial booking.
  • Monitor expenditure performance against approved budgets and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, governance standards, and reporting requirements.

Data Quality & Revenue Assurance

  • Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency through robust controls and quality assurance processes.
  • Design and implement frameworks that support quality customer acquisition and revenue conversion.
  • Continuously monitor performance metrics and optimize processes to improve commercial outcomes.
  • Enforce compliance with commission structures and oversee related reporting and analysis.

Incentive Management & Stakeholder Partnership

  • Define, implement, and periodically review the MFS Incentive Plan, including performance targets, measurement criteria, and reward structures.
  • Act as the primary financial advisor to business units and cross-functional teams within a matrix organization.
  • Build strong partnerships across commercial, technology, operations, and finance teams to support business objectives.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA – Ghana, UK, or equivalent ECOWAS-recognized professional qualification) or an MBA from a reputable university.
  • Additional qualifications in Financial Analysis, Business Intelligence, Strategy, or Commercial Finance will be an advantage.

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in Financial Analysis, Commercial Finance, or Business Performance Management.
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a middle management role with responsibility for independent business units or commercial portfolios.
  • Proven experience within a fast-paced telecommunications, technology, fintech, or digital services environment.
  • Strong understanding of mass consumer markets and commercial business models.
