VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

MULTIPLE POSITIONS AVAILABLE

ORGANISATION: Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO)
LOCATION: Accra, Ghana
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full-Time

Green Africa Youth Organization (GAYO) is a youth-led, non-governmental organization dedicated to empowering young Africans to drive climate action, environmental sustainability, and inclusive green development. GAYO works across climate adaptation, renewable energy, and circular economy initiatives to build resilient communities and promote sustainable futures across Africa.

To strengthen its growing program portfolio, GAYO invites applications from passionate, skilled, and purpose-driven young professionals to fill the following positions:


AVAILABLE POSITIONS

  1. Project Coordinator – Adaptation & Resilience

  2. Project Coordinator – Energy Project

  3. Project Manager – Zero Waste Project


ROLE OVERVIEW AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Project Coordinator – Adaptation & Resilience

The Project Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate and implement climate adaptation and resilience projects

  • Support community-based interventions addressing climate risks and vulnerabilities

  • Monitor project activities, timelines, and deliverables

  • Collect, analyze, and report project data and outcomes

  • Engage stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries to ensure effective project delivery

  • Support proposal development and donor reporting


2. Project Coordinator – Energy Project

The Project Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate renewable energy and energy access projects

  • Support the implementation of clean energy solutions and awareness program

  • Work with technical partners and communities to ensure project success

  • Track progress, document lessons learned, and prepare reports

  • Support advocacy and capacity-building activities related to sustainable energy


3. Project Manager – Zero Waste Project

The Project Manager will:

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and management of zero waste and circular economy projects

  • Oversee project teams, budgets, and timelines

  • Ensure effective waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability interventions

  • Engage stakeholders, including local authorities and community groups

  • Monitor project performance and ensure compliance with donor and organizational standards

  • Prepare technical, financial, and narrative reports


EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should meet the following requirements, depending on the role:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Sustainability, Renewable Energy, Development Studies, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field

  • Strong understanding of climate action, environmental sustainability, or energy systems

  • Demonstrated project coordination or management skills

  • Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong commitment to youth leadership, climate justice, and sustainable development

Relevant professional experience will be an advantage, particularly for the Project Manager role.
