Position Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced National Consultant to support the strengthening of statistical accuracy, quality, and relevance of products generated from the national sanitation data system. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in data analysis, statistical frameworks, reporting systems, and capacity building to improve evidence-based decision-making within sanitation and WASH programs.

This role requires an analytical and strategic professional with advanced statistical expertise, strong experience in WASH data systems, and the ability to translate complex data into practical insights for diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strengthen statistical frameworks and methodologies used within the national sanitation data system.
  • Analyze complex sanitation and WASH datasets to identify trends, patterns, and underlying issues.
  • Improve the accuracy, reliability, and relevance of statistical products and reports.
  • Support the development of technical guidelines, frameworks, and reporting standards.
  • Provide technical support for WASH data analysis, interpretation, and reporting activities.
  • Collaborate with government institutions, partners, and stakeholders to strengthen data systems and processes.
  • Support the design, implementation, and review of surveys and data collection tools.
  • Build the capacity of technical and non-technical stakeholders through training and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Translate statistical findings into clear and accessible information for decision-makers and broader audiences.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and evidence-based planning activities related to sanitation and WASH initiatives.

Educational Requirements

  • Advanced Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant work experience in statistics and data analysis.
  • Expertise in complex data analysis, trend identification, and statistical interpretation.
  • Strong experience in WASH data analysis and reporting.
  • Experience working with government institutions and donor-funded projects.
  • Proven experience establishing statistical frameworks and preparing technical guidelines.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively to audiences without statistical backgrounds.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience in training and capacity building initiatives.
  • Experience in survey design and implementation.
  • Experience providing technical support and mentorship to multidisciplinary teams.

Language Requirements

  • Fluency in English is required..
