Position Overview

UNICEF is seeking a motivated National Intern – WASH Knowledge Management (KM) to support knowledge management, data organization, and documentation activities within the WASH program.

The intern will assist in collecting, analyzing, organizing, and presenting program data and knowledge products that support evidence-based decision-making. The role also involves contributing to reports, briefs, and knowledge-sharing materials that highlight program results and learning.

This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain practical experience in data management, knowledge documentation, and international development within a global organization.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the collection, organization, and analysis of qualitative and quantitative WASH program data.

  • Assist in maintaining and organizing knowledge repositories and documentation systems, including internal platforms such as SharePoint.

  • Prepare knowledge products including briefs, reports, case studies, and human-interest stories.

  • Support the visualization of program data using Excel and other data visualization tools.

  • Contribute to documenting lessons learned, best practices, and program outcomes.

  • Assist in compiling program reports and communication materials.

  • Collaborate with team members and provide support on various knowledge management and data-related tasks as needed.


Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must meet one of the following conditions:

  • Provide proof of enrolment in an undergraduate or advanced degree program and a reference letter from the school confirming that the internship is required; or

  • Provide an up-to-date university transcript or statement of results/certificate showing completion of a degree within the last two years (if applicable).

Additional requirements include:

  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

  • Must have no immediate relatives (father, mother, brother, or sister) working in any UNICEF office.

  • Must not have relatives in the line of authority that the intern will report to.


Educational Background

  • Academic background in Data Management, Information Management, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Social Sciences related to information management.

  • Background or training in Public Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Communication will be an added advantage.


Skills and Competencies

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools.

  • Demonstrated ability in qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis.

  • Excellent writing and documentation skills, with the ability to translate technical information into clear and accessible formats.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural team environment.

  • Ability to learn and apply organizational systems such as SharePoint and other internal document management platforms with minimal supervision.


Languages

  • Fluency in English is required.

  • Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) and/or local language(s) is considered an asset.


Desirable Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of geospatial software will be an added advantage.

  • Background or training in Public Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or Communication.
