We are seeking a seasoned NPDP Instructor to lead our Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) certification program.

Job Summary

The NPDP Instructor will design and deliver comprehensive training programs that equip professionals with the knowledge, tools, and strategies to succeed in new product development. This role requires deep expertise in the PDMA Body of Knowledge (BoK), hands-on experience in product development, and a proven ability to mentor and coach professional audiences.

Key Responsibilities

1. Course Development & Curriculum Design

• Design and maintain a preparatory program aligned with the seven key NPDP knowledge areas: Strategy, Portfolio Management, New Products Process, Culture/Organization/Teams, Tools/Metrics, Market Research, and Lifecycle Management.

• Integrate real-world case studies, tools for product strategy, portfolio balancing, and Voice-of-the-Customer (VoC) research.

2. Exam Preparation & Strategy

• Develop and update practice exams that mirror the NPDP exam structure (approximately 200 questions over 3.5 hours).

• Provide participants with targeted study plans, memorization aids, and high-level exam-taking strategies.

3. Professional Coaching & Mentorship

• Mentor candidates through the PDMA eligibility process, including documentation of their two years of professional NPD experience.

• Offer career guidance for professionals aspiring to senior innovation or product leadership roles.

4. Continuous Learning & Compliance

• Stay updated on revisions to the PDMA BoK and incorporate changes into course materials.

• Maintain personal NPDP certification through ongoing professional development and recertification cycles.

Requirements

Certification & Education

• Active NPDP certification from PDMA.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Marketing, or a related technical field.

Experience & Skills

• Minimum of 2 years leading or contributing to cross-functional new product development projects.

• Proven experience teaching complex product development concepts to professional audiences.

• Deep familiarity with the PDMA BoK and NPDP exam structure.

• Strong presentation, communication, and mentorship skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive background in Product Management, Innovation Consulting, or R&D Leadership.

• Experience with methodologies such as Stage-Gate, Agile for hardware, or Design Thinking.
