Role Purpose

The Nursing Officer will provide high-quality clinical and emergency nursing care to patients while supporting health promotion, patient safety, and operational excellence within the company’s healthcare facility. The successful candidate will contribute to effective hospital operations, maintain professional nursing standards, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional policies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver clinical care to all patients reporting to the hospital.
• Observe infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols to ensure the safety of patients and staff.
• Supervise nursing assistants and support staff in delivering day-to-day healthcare services in line with national health policies and company procedures.
• Supervise housekeeping staff to maintain a clean and safe hospital environment in accordance with ISO 14001 and WHO protocols.
• Conduct post-incident investigation tests and prepare reports for relevant stakeholders.
• Promote health education and provide counselling to patients and clients on identified health needs.
• Utilise available healthcare software and nursing informatics systems for patient care documentation, data generation, and analysis.
• Ensure confidentiality, privacy, and security of protected health information during daily operations.
• Respond effectively to medical emergencies and trauma situations within the facility.
• Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Nursing Officer.

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in General Nursing.
• GCNM-recognized Postgraduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, or Perioperative Nursing will be an added advantage.
• Certificate of Registration from the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Council.

Legal Requirements

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.
• Hold a valid Practicing Licence (PIN).
• Renew practicing licence periodically as required by law.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

• Minimum of five (5) years post-bachelor’s working experience in nursing practice.
• Additional two (2) years post-GCNM qualification experience will be an added advantage.
• Strong clinical nursing knowledge and practical nursing competencies.
• Basic surgical skills.
• Experience in hospital emergency response management.
• Competency in administering Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
• Strong emergency and trauma care management skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and respond promptly during emergencies.

Other Requirements

• Ability to manage workplace and emergency injuries including fractures, burns, and crush injuries.
• CPR and life support certification, including BLS/ACLS, will be an advantage.
• Ability to stabilize patients prior to evacuation or advanced medical intervention.
