Role Overview

Black Star Group seeks an experienced and detail-oriented Operations Officer to lead and strengthen its operational processes. The successful candidate will drive efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and oversee end-to-end transaction processes within a fast-paced financial environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to operational excellence while leading process improvements and mentoring a high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive process improvements and support automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency
  • Oversee the end-to-end trade lifecycle, including trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation
  • Ensure accurate and timely trade matching, allocation, and settlement on the Central Securities Depository (CSD) platform
  • Supervise repo transactions, auction bids, and fixed income trading support activities
  • Perform and oversee daily mark-to-market valuations of financial instrument positions
  • Maintain accurate transaction records with a complete audit trail in line with regulatory requirements
  • Oversee client transaction processing, including deposits, withdrawals, and transfers
  • Maintain and update authorized signatory records and operational mandates
  • Manage bank account administration, including account opening, reconciliation, maintenance, and closures
  • Lead daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliations (cash, securities, and positions) and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Prepare, review, and submit regulatory and internal reports within required timelines
  • Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, internal policies, and operational risk frameworks
  • Identify operational risks and implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and resolving audit findings
  • Collaborate with front office, compliance, finance, and IT teams to ensure seamless operations
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior operations staff
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in brokerage, asset management, or financial services operations
  • ACI Operations Certificate
  • Strong understanding of capital markets and brokerage operations
  • Familiarity with CSD processes and fixed income instruments
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Strong client service orientation
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
