Position Overview

The Plant Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial process equipment, including crushing plants, to support mining and mineral processing activities. The role involves monitoring, controlling, and maintaining plant operations while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards. The successful candidate will actively contribute to the productivity and reliability of plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain industrial process equipment, including crushing plants, to ensure efficient production.

• Apply principles of mineral processing to optimize plant performance.

• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance to prevent equipment downtime.

• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth plant operations and address operational challenges.

• Maintain a safe working environment and comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency, reliability, and safety.

• Assist in supervising and mentoring junior operators where applicable.

Educational Requirements

• Completion of WASSCE or equivalent is essential.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Mining, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related field is highly desirable.

• A trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or related field is highly desirable.

Knowledge & Experience

• Demonstrable knowledge of mineral processing principles and mining industry standards.

• Knowledge of crushing plant equipment and industrial plant operations.

• Previous underground mining experience is highly desirable.

• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating industrial process equipment.

• Experience in metalliferous mining is highly desirable.

• Supervisory experience in an industrial environment is advantageous.

• Ability to monitor and troubleshoot process systems effectively.
