Private Sector Program Coordinator

Location: Accra, Ghana
Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Private Sector Program Coordinator to lead strategic engagement with the private sector and contribute to advancing women’s rights, economic justice, and inclusive development initiatives in Ghana.

Position Summary

The Private Sector Program Coordinator will lead the design, implementation, and coordination of programmes that promote responsible private sector engagement, women’s economic empowerment, gender justice, and sustainable development outcomes. The role requires strong leadership, advocacy, partnership-building, and project management capabilities to influence key stakeholders and drive impactful programmes.

Key Responsibilities

Private Sector Engagement & Partnership Development

  • Develop and implement strategies that strengthen engagement with private sector actors and promote responsible business practices.
  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with businesses, industry associations, government institutions, civil society organizations, and development partners.
  • Identify opportunities for collaboration that advance women’s rights, economic justice, and sustainable development goals.
  • Facilitate dialogue and collaboration between private sector stakeholders and programme partners.

Programme Management & Coordination

  • Lead the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of private sector-related programmes and initiatives.
  • Ensure programmes achieve agreed objectives, deliverables, and impact targets.
  • Coordinate project activities, work plans, budgets, and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor programme progress and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure effective risk management and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

Advocacy, Campaigns & Influencing

  • Lead research, analysis, and evidence-generation initiatives that support advocacy and influencing efforts.
  • Design and coordinate campaigns that promote women’s rights, gender equality, economic justice, and responsible business practices.
  • Develop policy positions, briefing papers, reports, and advocacy materials.
  • Engage with decision-makers to influence policies, practices, and investments that support inclusive economic development.

Stakeholder Engagement & Networking

  • Represent Oxfam at meetings, forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagement platforms.
  • Build strong relationships with government agencies, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society actors.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder dialogue and collaboration to achieve programme objectives.
  • Strengthen networks that support advocacy, learning, and collective action.

Organizational Development & Team Leadership

  • Provide leadership and coordination support to programme teams and partners.
  • Foster collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing across diverse teams.
  • Support capacity-building initiatives that strengthen programme effectiveness and organizational impact.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning

  • Track programme performance and ensure timely achievement of milestones and deliverables.
  • Capture lessons learned, best practices, and success stories.
  • Prepare high-quality reports, presentations, and programme updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to organizational learning and evidence-based decision-making.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional programme-related responsibilities assigned by management.
  • Contribute actively to Oxfam’s strategic priorities and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Economics, Business Administration, Gender Studies, Social Sciences, International Development, Public Policy, Law, or a related field.

A Master’s Degree in a relevant discipline will be an added advantage.

  • Expertise in private sector engagement, women’s rights, gender and human rights, and economic justice.
  • Proven ability to lead campaigns, research, and analysis that support advocacy and influencing work.
  • Strong organizational development and project management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage complex initiatives.
  • Excellent networking, influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong ability to engage effectively with government institutions, private sector organizations, development partners, and other decision-makers.
  • Demonstrated leadership as both a team player and manager, with the ability to build and drive strategic initiatives across diverse teams.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary environments.
